Craig Fisher talks about SEO and being found on LinkedIn

I recently spoke to Craig Fisher about using the power of LinkedIn to dramatically improve your web presence. LinkedIn has fantastic SEO, this means that when you Google a name that persons LinkedIn profile is very likely to be near the top of the list. LinkedIn is a massive web site with lots of links and connections, very few other sites are as big and as a result the search engines rank LinkedIn pages very highly. The way that a LinkedIn profile is structured and the key words that are used allows you to appear high up on searches and be found when you want to be. Craig talks about the techniques he has used to optimize his LinkedIn profile to harness the power of LinkedIn.

This is what happened last year

South African Recruiters Group

Two weeks ago we started a new LinkedIn group for South African Recruiters with the imaginative name of South African Recruiters Group. It has proved very popular and we now have over 500 members. Well done us!

We’ve got our group, now what are we going to do with it? The wonderful thing about online communities is that it doesn’t really matter who starts them, very quickly they take on a life of their own. I hope that the group will become a really vibrant active interesting community where lots of recruiters can join in, share ideas and be among friends. Of course this is not something that I can force to happen, as it relies on all the members wanting to participate. My plan however is simply to be a good participating member and hopefully that will attract others to do the same.

Yesterday we ran a BlogTalk radio show for the group and had a good level of listeners. We talked about Linked In and social media and hopefully the conversation was interesting enough. I hope that we will run other shows and events in the near future and see what works best and what is of most interest. I’ll post the ideas I have on the group and see what the response is.

My hope is that we will have many members developing discussions and events. We have already seen recruiters exchanging ideas, candidates and vacancies and I believe that we have even made a placement as a result of the network.

So , in short, Ask not what the South African Recruiters Group can do for you, rather, what you can do for the group.

South African Recruiters

We recently set up a LinkedIn group for South African Recruiters and to help start up this community we are running a BlogTalkRadio show on Tuesday the 21st of September at 3:30pm (Central African Time).
We will be talking about recruitment in South Africa and as any group member can call in and take part, the actual agenda is up to you.
If anyone would like to discuss a particular topic then I suggest using the discussions on the group to start the conversation and the radio show will continue the debate.
From the feedback we have had so far I suspect that Social Media (LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook etc) will get more than a mention. There also seems to be a good discussion around job boards at the moment.

To listen or participate simply go to the website www.blogtalkradio.com/1ntelligence. You will need to have speakers on your computer or a headset.
If you would like to join in the conversation then simply dial the telephone number on that site. Unfortunately it is a US number so a Skype call is likely to be cheaper and the quality is usually very good.

He is a short video from WP Strauss, talking about the show.
